Ladies 2s

Hi, I’m Lizi and I’m the 2nd team captain this season. 

I’ve been playing hockey for over 20 years now, through school, county and various clubs. I’ve been a captain for a different club but this will be my first one for Phoenix! 

I have played most positions on the pitch, but find myself as a defender now. 

We’re very much looking forward to our new league this season after securing back to back promotions with the help of our fabulous coaches!

Hi I’m Gaz, but most people know me as shifty 

I am the coach for the Chorley Phoenix 2nd team and I’ve been coaching them for 2 years now. 

In the 24/25 season, I led the ladies 2nd team to promotion, an achievement I am very proud of. I served in the army for 23 years and this is where I first started playing hockey, I have played for 20 years mainly as a striker until I retired. 

During my career I have also coached other teams and I am also an umpire. 

Being an umpire gives me a different angle on coaching, as it allows me to see the game differently and I have gained a better understanding of the rules. 

Having these attributes allows me to develop a players skills set and to promote their understanding of the game more effectively. This is something I pride myself on and implement at our training sessions,  enabling me to get the best out of a player whilst also making it enjoyable for people to play the game
