I have been playing hockey for 23 years. Over the years, I have played in a variety of positions on the pitch, been involved in umpiring and coaching, and been on the committee for the clubs that I have played for.
I have played for Chorley Phoenix since the club was set up. This is our 3rd season, as a club. My role in the club has been fixtures and umpires secretary since the start, with this being my 1st season as 1st team Captain.
I am just a little bit more passionate about hockey than the average person. I have been involved in hockey for 28 years and have held leadership positions in hockey for 20 years. My role at Chorley Phoenix is Chairperson which involves leading meetings efficiently and generally picking up tasks where there are no owners.
The committee is a great effective team where everyone is working together to achieve the shared belief and outcome that will provide the best way forward for the club.
In my spare time I coach our Juniors, Seniors and Disability sections and attend 2nd Team Games as Team Coach/Manager. Other hockey related interests are Under 16s/17s Lead coach for East Cheshire and I own KABO Hockey. Aside from Hockey I have a fantastic wife and very quickly maturing daughter. My moto is to leave things in a better state than they were when you first touched them.
I'm Ande and I am a coach at Chorley Phoenix Hockey Club
At the end of 2022/23 season I decided to call time on my 35-year playing career as a goalkeeper. During that time, I have played for various clubs at varying levels including the Premier League. I have also been goalkeeper for Lancashire over 45s and was invited to trials for England over 45s in the indoor cup and four nations.
During this time, I have coached goalkeepers at club and county level for both adults and juniors.
In 2021 I was part of the team that set up Phoenix Flyerz Accessible Hockey to enable children and adults of all abilities to play and enjoy hockey and continue to assist this groups development.
At the start of 2023 I was approached by Chorley Phoenix and asked if I would assist in coaching the ladies and junior teams, a new challenge which I was only too glad to accept.
My aim and objectives for the coming years is to help and enable the ladies and juniors to become better players and to enjoy playing hockey.
